~ The Perfect Vintage Farmhouse/Hobby Farm on 30 Acres of Land  ~

The metamorphis of this house took place some 97 years ago. In 1912, the main red bricked house with a second storie bedroom was built. Its’ floor plan remains, consisting of a large farm-style eat-in kitchen with an attached pantry/laundry room, basement entry, a traditionally wide, enclosed porch, & an attached clapboard woodshed/workshop.  In 1914 an adjoining concrete foundation was poured & the complimentary 2 storie, 3 bedroom addition was built. The original character & architectural assets have been left intact updating many, new, replacement windows. The foyer has a striking staircase. The richly wainscotted dining room & parlour are partitioned by fancy double grained bifold doors. The second storey of this wonderful farmhouse is just as inviting as the first with its’ wide pine flooring. There are 3 family sized bedrooms all with closets. There is a large, bright 4 pce bath with a door which leads to the once existing roof deck, a favourite spot for bird-watching, reading or basking in the sun. The walk-out basement houses a cistern, a water softener, a newer Novatek water treatment system (installed but not required), a generator hookup panel, a 200 amp service with overhead power to the barn. Centrally heated w/ oil but in need of a furnace. Some electric baseboards. New well in 2000 w/ submersible pump. Septic 15 yrs old.  Built in 1980 is a 34’ x 70’ concrete block, hip roof barn with a main floor open-byre and second storie full loft. The pump house has a windmill. Good chicken coop. Water to the 2 barns. A drive-shed sits at the foot of a newly planted 9 acre field of barley & grass seed. Balance in pasture. Taxes unassessed due to new survey (30+/- acres).  For private viewing, terms & conditions, please call our office at 613-267-6027.

He was elected to the Legislative Assembly of the Province of Canada for the South riding of Lanark in 1857. Playfair served as colonel in the local militia. He died in Playfairville in 1868.
